Do you need a dedicated IP for best search engine rankings

If we want our websites to become more independent we can use Dedicated IP web hosting mechanism. We can also add the secure socket layer (SSL) certificate and enhance the security of the website. The dedicated IP is generally used if we want the anonymous visitors of our websites also to download files from our FTP server. Also, if we are dealing with the credit card management in our website, we need a secure connection like the SSL certificates; in that case we are required to use a dedicated IP hosting. This can also be used if we want to have our own anonymous named web servers.

The discussion whether we need a dedicated IP for the search engine ranking has been going on for a long time. The dedicated IP does not do anything to higher our rank in the search engines. But, if we have many websites, it is advantageous to put each of these websites on different dedicated IP as the search engine likely doesn’t easily connect the websites together. That is, if we are having a set of websites with a same IP address for which the search engine has assigned ranks and you want to add a new website to your list. If we place the link of our new website in each of our already hosted website to pass the rank to the new website, the search engine will notice that the new site has the links from the already existing websites and will find that they are hosted on the same server and will assign the new website a lesser rank than the other websites. If we put the new website on a totally different IP, search engines will think that the websites are unrelated and will assign a better rank for it. Moreover, in order to preserve the IP address, the shared IP is generally preferred than the dedicated IP.
